What an ESOL course will do for you

You will learn

• Talking to doctors, teachers, shop assistants

• Apply for jobs

• Fill in forms

• Help children with homework

• Make telephone calls

• Take part in conversations

You will be assessed

• Instruction from teacher

• Homework is provided

To join the course you will need

• English must be your 2nd / 3rd language.

• You do not need a qualification to join the class.

• Textbooks are not provided and are not essential for the course but can be purchased by students should they wish.

• You must be 16 years old or over to join an ESOL course.

What happens next?

When you finish an ESOL level

Once you have completed the course and get a certificate, you could move onto a higher level of ESOL course; you might find a job or volunteering position; you may gain a promotion or move onto further education.

Progression

• Study at the next level of ESOL from Beginner to C1 (Advanced).

• Prepare for a recognised exam such as IELTS, Cambridge exam.

• Access another provision – parenting programmes, vocational courses, volunteering or employment opportunities.
